Description: Zvolen Castle is situated in the centre of the town, on a low hill.
Zvolen Castle, a national cultural monument, was built in 1370-1382 as a Gothic hunting chateau of the Italian type of a municipal palace.
The central courtyard of the castle is surrounded by shape with four wings. Fortifications, inspired by quattrocento architecture, were built as prevention in time of Turkish attacks.
The Castle was renovated in 1960.
The Slovak National Gallery is located in the Castle, whitch offers lectures on art and guided tours through exhibitions.
