St. Jacob's Church Levoca

Description: St. Jacob's Church Levoca is situated in the historical centre of the town.
St. Jacob's Church in Levoca was built in the end of the 14th century.
St. Jacob's Church Levoca is a three-nave church with a sturdy sanctuary and Gothic cross corridors.
The St. George's Chapel was added to the northern part of the church in 1392.
The bibliotheca, was added in 1520-1540, is one of the first Renaissance constructions of the town.
Several fires had damaged the original spire of the church. The new was built in 1858.
St. Jacob's Church has Gothic altars, the most precious is the main altar. This altar, made of limetree wood, is one of the world's highest (18.62 m). The altar was made in 1507-1517 by Master Pavol from Levoca.
