St. George Church Dunajska Streda

St. George Church Dunajska Streda is a Roman Catholic Church.
The church was built in the 14th century.
In 1518 the church was reconstructed in late Gothic style and further reconstruction was in the end of the 17th century and then in the 18th and 19th century. At that time the oldest parts were rebuilt in baroque style and the other aisle was removed. The church was consecrated to Mother of God.
St. George Church Dunajska Streda has an unusual interior formed by two naves. At the top of the main altar is a little statue of the dragon-killing knight. The sacristy with a monastic vault was attached to the northern wall of the sanctuary. A painting of St Nicholas (14th century) was placed above the entrance door. There is also the main altar the Assumption of Virgin Mary (18th century), Pieta sculpture and a late baroque painting of King St Stephen.
The pulpit was built in baroque-rococo style and the confessionals in baroque style. The colour compositions of the two windows were created in 1892. The interior of the church was replaced in 1955 and then in 1986-87.
The tower of the main facade is decorated by Gothic sound orifices. Walls are decorated with semicircular and pointed arched windows.
On the outer side of the southern wall is a mural - Calvary from the end of the 14th century.
