Description: Slovak Mining Museum in Banska Stiavnica is located in the historical centre of the town.
Slovak Mining Museum Banska Stiavnica was formed in 1964.
The museum builds up mineral-deposit, mining-technology, ethnography, art history, archaeology and numismatic funds and collections of general history.
Slovak Mining Museum documents the history of mining industry in the Slovak Republic, the history of Banska Stiavnica and its environs. The individual exhibitions are dedicated: History of Mining, Mining Science and Technics and Education in Slovakia, History of Book Printing in the region Banska Stiavnica.
There is also exhibited working models of mining machines.
The central building of the the largest building complex in the town - Kammerhof is a national cultural monument from the 13th century. Kammerhof is the former seat of the socalled Chamber Counts. Nowadays, there is a seat of Headquarters of the Slovak Mining Museum.
