Description: Open-Air Mining Museum in Banska Stiavnica is located 2 km from Banska Stiavnica along the road to the Stiavnica mines, near to the lake Klinger.
Open-Air Mining Museum Banska Stiavnica was opened in 1974 on original mining parts of the pit Ondrej (from the 16th century) and the gallery Bartolomej (from the 16th and 17th century).
There is a surface with original mining buildings and machinery (unique water-column hauling engine engine from 1881, a head-frame Žofia, etc.).
There is also an underground exhibition. The length of the underground track is 1300 m.
The exhibition shows mining workspaces, equipment and methods of extraction from the 16th century, a typical mining environment and coal-mining machines from Slovakia and Czech Republic (The coal Mining Exposition).
