Marianska Hora Levoca belongs among the most important pilgrimage places in Slovakia.
The chapel on Marianska Hora was built in 1241 - 1242 by Spis people to thank for survival in times of Tatar raids.
In 1906-1914 was built a new church for pilgrims. The Neo-Gothic altar was consecrated on 2 July 1922 by the Spis bishop.
In 1984, the church was promoted to Basilica Minor.
In 1955, the Pope visited the place during his stay in Slovakia.
Nowadays, here is a modern pilgrimage house. Marianska Hora is a source of spiritual energy for people each year.
